Brutal Assault has unveiled another major line-up expansion, adding twelve more artists that further reinforce the festival's reputation as one of Europe's most adventurous destinations for heavy music. Spanning everything from funeral doom and sludge to post-metal, progressive death metal and experimental electronics, the latest announcement offers yet another diverse chapter in this year's program.
Among the highlights is German funeral doom collective Ahab, masters of slow-burning, ocean-inspired compositions that have become a benchmark for the genre. Joining them are New Orleans sludge legends Crowbar, whose crushing riffs and unmistakable heaviness have influenced generations of extreme metal musicians.
Representing the Czech scene, LVMEN return with their signature blend of post-metal, noise and atmospheric intensity, remaining one of the country's most respected and influential underground acts. On the opposite end of the sonic spectrum, Japan's Violent Magic Orchestra promise one of the festival's most unconventional performances, combining black metal aesthetics with industrial, techno and audiovisual experimentation for an unforgettable live experience.
The remaining additions continue to broaden the festival's musical palette, bringing together established names and exciting newcomers from across the global heavy music scene. With each announcement, Brutal Assault continues to demonstrate its commitment to showcasing not only the biggest names in extreme metal, but also artists pushing the boundaries of the genre.
The festival has also confirmed an unfortunate change to the bill. American progressive death metal outfit Fallujah have been forced to cancel their appearance at this year's edition. Stepping in as their replacement are the UK's Cryptic Shift, whose acclaimed blend of technical death metal, progressive songwriting and cosmic sci-fi themes makes them a fitting addition to the Fortress.
With another twelve bands now confirmed, Brutal Assault 2026 continues to shape up as one of the festival's most eclectic and ambitious editions to date.
